Patio Table
The first thing I built was the table. It is an elongated octagon shape, large enough for eight people to sit around.
Of course it has an integral umbrella holder. The top and base were built separately and bolt together.

The outer frame and center box of the top were assembled first.

Ribs were installed and then slatting begins.

An error in the design led to this fix to ensure that the corners are 45 degrees to keep the slat spacing even.

I built this jig to route blind slots in the ends of the center slat rings for biscuits.

The completed top.

Closup of the umbrella guide block.

The lower base, fully assembled.

The lower umbrella holder.

The feet are installed in slots and then bolted in place with heavy lag screws.

I installed these corners to increase the rigidity.

Complete base assembly. The vertical members are connected via lap joints to the upper and lower boxes.

The completed table assembled in my workshop.

This shows the bolted connection between the base and top.

The comleted table assembled in the back yard.
