Patio Set

[Home]
My sunbleached plastic patio furniture needed replacing. I bought a table saw and then designed and built this set to replace it. The wood is cedar. Assembly was done with screws and Titebond III, PVA glue. The mortise and tennon work in the chair backs was bonded using a polyurethane glue. There is currently no finish applied. I intend to stain it once the pieces are weathered a bit more evenly.

Below is a photo journal of the assembly process broken into the three component pieces. The whole project started with design in January 2005, and I constructed the various pieces over the course of the summer, finishing finally in November, just in time for winter. If you choose to build this and follow the plans, caution is advised as there are a few errors which I discovered later. I also changed a few things on the fly as I went along. When in doubt compare the photos to the plans.
